Cloud Engineer
About the Role
We are looking for a Cloud Engineer to join the Platform Team and help build the cloud foundations that power Vitestro’s Cloud & Connectivity Platform. As a Cloud Engineer, you will design, implement, and operate the infrastructure and services that enable secure device connectivity, cloud-to-cloud integrations, and integrations with hospital IT systems.
You will work closely with other engineering teams and the cybersecurity team to design and build the technical capabilities required for reliable and compliant device operations. Your work will focus strongly on building integrations: connecting our platform with hospital systems, laboratory systems, SaaS platforms, authentication providers, and other external services. You will contribute to the backend components and data flows that support operations, monitoring, and the device lifecycle.
This role is part of an agile engineering team, collaborating daily to deliver high-quality, secure, and well-architected solutions.
If you enjoy hands-on cloud engineering, solving challenging technical problems, and building high-quality, scalable systems in a regulated environment, you will thrive in this role.
As a Cloud Engineer, you will:
- Design, build, and operate AWS-based cloud infrastructure supporting device connectivity and backend services
- Develop backend components used for operational workflows, data exchange, and device support functions
- Integrate APIs and external systems, including Hospital and laboratory information systems, and SaaS platforms used across Vitestro
- Build and maintain integration patterns (REST, events, messaging, webhooks, secure file exchange)
- Automate infrastructure and service provisioning using Infrastructure as Code
Job requirements
What You’ll Bring:
- A builder mindset with curiosity, ownership, and a drive for high-quality engineering
- Background in Software Engineering or Backend Development
- 2+ years of experience building cloud platforms or cloud-native applications
- Strong experience integrating APIs and external systems (hospital IT, SaaS-to-SaaS, internal services)
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi, or AWS CDK)
- Experience with containerization, CI/CD and automation tooling (e.g., GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Azure AD/Entra ID)
- Proficiency with Linux, Python, and scripting with Bash
- Experience with serverless and/or data-oriented architectures
What we offer
- Competitive salary including pension plan
- 25 days of annual leave based on a full-time position
- Hybrid work model
- Working together in a high-skilled team with our home base in Utrecht
- Frequent out-of-work activities with our team (such as our Skitestro ski-trip)
- Training budget
- Opportunity to be key shaper of a new global industry niche: autonomous medical robotics
We offer an environment where you can make a lot of impact, as you are joining a growing scale-up in MedTech. Our team of driven and talented colleagues enjoys solving the challenges in developing, manufacturing, and completing our breakthrough medical device. While working in an open culture, we strive for excellence in all domains. We believe in taking courage and like to challenge each other. We learn and teach, regardless of age, nationality or gender.
